Flight Documentation Content

Users can customize the content of PIB documents directly through the web interface, such as:

  • Edit departure, destination and stopover airports for the take-off and landing forecasts
  • Specify corridor or station lists for METAR and TAF lists
  • Specify warning types (SIGMETs, Volcanic Ash and Tropical Cyclone advisories) and list of FIRs for which these should be included
  • Select from weather map collections (W+T, SIGWX, satellite images, cross sections, and others)

Automated Delivery of Flight Folders

The Pre-Flight Information Bulletin (PIB) can be automatically generated at scheduled intervals or just before flight departure, ensuring pilots receive the most up-to-date weather data relevant for their flight. The result is a high-quality PDF, perfect for both printing and electronic distribution.

  • The PDF can be automatically delivered via email or to FTP/SFTP destinations, making it easily accessible on-flight documentation tablets or in printed format for pilots
  • It can also be integrated into other briefing portals using API integration, delivering comprehensive pre-flight information augmented by other relevant operational flight data

View maps

To complement the self-briefing, the briefing portal offers viewing weather charts such as:

  • Wind & Temperature Forecast
  • SIGWX (WAFC Significant Weather charts)
  • Any other charts available to the backend Aero Weather system

Users can interactively select the area, flight level and validity time.

METARs & TAFs

METAR & TAF for the destinations are interpreted using coloured time bars so that users can spot difficult weather in the forecast at the time of landing more easily.

  • The colouring is based on horizontal visibility and the cloud base of significant cloud distributions that might negatively affect the aircraft's landing
  • The tooltip for individual destination airports provides full details

Access data via SADIS API

With arrival of SWIM Services the SADIS secure FTP data reception is being replaced by  SWIM SADIS API which is fully supported in Aero Weather.

  • Reception of WAFS forecast data is based on the selection of center (London or Washington), resolution, coverage and time range
  • Reception of WAFS SIGWX forecasts is based on the selection of collection (IWXXM or PNG)
  • Reception of OPMET data is based on the selection of collection and time period

Extendable with Advanced Features

The desktop Aero Weather is a module-based software that can be extended by tools that take aviation forecasting to the next level.

  • Editing aviation messages such as TAF and Aerodrome Warnings, including syntax validation, display of forecast values from model and scheduled issuing
  • Real-time TAF Monitoring, which compares TAF forecast with observed values and alerts when it is necessary to amend the TAF
  • Long-term TAF verification that evaluates the forecast performance
  • Graphical creation of SIGMET and AIRMET by drawing the phenomenon location on a map
